The expected release of the Slackware 12.0 distribution has been released. The main changes are the use of the kernel 2.6.x (more precisely, 2.6.21.5), KDE 3.5.7, XFce 4.4.1, as well as the Hardware Abstraction Layer, which allows connecting devices on the fly. Separately, perhaps, it is worth noting the presence in the distribution of the Pidgin messenger. Recall that earlier Slackware developers announced that Pidgin was excluded from the distribution kit and entered into the list of unsupported programs.
