The Mozilla.org developer community has
released the sixth alpha version of the Firefox 3.0 browser (codenamed Gran Paradiso).
Compared with the previous alpha modification of Firefox 3.0, a number of improvements have appeared in the presented test version. First of all, the developers mention the updated SQLite database engine, which is used to store bookmarks and browsing history. The sixth alpha version is characterized by accelerated processing of cookies and support for preferences associated with certain sites (in particular, the size of the text). Improved tools for working with extensions and downloads appeared in the browser and, in addition, the identified errors were eliminated.
The Mozilla.org community warns that the Gran Paradiso Alpha 6 modification is aimed at testers and web developers and is not recommended for installation by ordinary users. By the way, as
reported by PC World, the Mozilla community no longer plans to release alpha versions of Firefox 3.0. It is assumed that on July 31 the first public beta of the new browser will see the light. The release of the second beta version is scheduled for September, while the final modification of the software product should appear closer to the end of this year.
The sixth alpha version of Firefox 3.0 is available in modifications for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. Those interested can download the installation file from
this page.
