Do you eat your own cooking?

We believe that each software company should use its own development within the company. It is honest, correct and effective. In addition, no one can cope with large-scale testing of corporate products better than a large IT company. Size matters.

Take the same corporate antivirus, what is its main difference from the home - correctly, in manageability. In our own infrastructure, Symantec, we can efficiently manage antivirus software on 80,000 devices — servers and workstations. And you also need to control the firewall on these 80,000 devices, still protect against intrusions, monitor software vulnerabilities, monitor confidential data leaks ... and there are about 20,000 mobile devices — smartphones from different manufacturers — that also need to be monitored for security, etc. . etc.
And if all this needs to be done in virtual environments (And in the internal infrastructure of Symantec, there are about 5,600 virtual servers), everything becomes more complicated at times — the slightest wrong distribution of resources — and you are threatened with an “antivirus storm” (imagine what could happen if on several virtual machines on the same physical one, the anti-virus scanning or the installation of updates will start at the same time). In general, as is well known, the more complex the system, the more places for it to break, so corporate information security products need to be tested with particular trepidation, which we do.

Symantec has 17,000+ employees and over one hundred thousand different devices connected to the network. That is, developing software for large companies, we have a full-fledged opportunity to independently test it. The Eating Our Own Cooking program (“Eating Our Own Cooking”) has been working for us for years and in the near future will survive an important stage in its existence - very soon we will be able to see the beta version of SEP12 together with you (Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 - approx .red.) The official release of the product will not be released until it works flawlessly on 10,000 computers inside Symantec.

In the meantime, we are waiting for the beta, it’s just not for long ... Pre-registration is already available for beta testers
