Bill Gates wallet is no longer the thickest in the world.
Mexican financial review Sentido Común reports, not without pride, that local businessman Carlos Slim Helú Aglamaz has become the richest man in the world, having taken this title from Bill Gates. Due to the growth of the shares of America Movil owned by him by 26% in the second quarter of this year, he increased his fortune to $ 67.8 billion - more than double compared to last year. Prior to this, in April, it was already known that the 67-year-old tycoon was the second richest person in the world, overtaking the famous philanthropist Warren Buffet.
The bulk of the capital of the new owner of the thickest wallet is placed in stocks of companies in the telecommunications sector of Latin America: América Móvil (the largest mobile operator in North America, 130 million subscribers), Teléfonos de México (the main landline telephone operator in Mexico and actively works in the markets of neighboring countries) and many others. Slim also owns a stake and is the president of the holding of mining and processing companies Grupo Carso.
