Algorithms for the Internet

Lectures of an open course have ended Algorithms for the Internet . Perhaps for the first time in Russia, each lecture is posted immediately in the form of slides, slides for printing, detailed pdf abstracts, mp3 lecture recordings and Google Video. On the same page are slides and summaries of student reports and original web services developed by the participants of the course. Complete the picture and links to the original English-language sources. Without adequate IT education, we can't catch the Indians!

Topics include semantic web, information retrieval models, clustering algorithms, recommender systems, support vector machine, linear suffix tree construction algorithm, genetic algorithms, PageRank, etc.

Happened:

• Organize two invited lectures by leading Russian specialists.
  
• Not only to conduct electronic note-taking by the students, but also to achieve a very good quality of these notes.
  
• Find financial support for the course from Yandex and ITMO.
  
• Successful student projects: Tag Design , Post Recommendation , CSIN · RU .
  

Did not work out:

• The quality of the video is still to be worked on. And yet, the lectures have a hundred views (half a week before the exam :-); there are regular correspondence course keepers from other cities.
  
• Not all student projects completed on time and complete product. Perhaps you should introduce tighter controls.
  
• Cover all, relevant to the Internet, interesting stories. Wait for the continuation.
  
• To organize a full free entrance to the lectures for students of all universities. We think how to solve the problem of strict watch at ITMO.
