Experts from CA found a fake Kaspersky Anti-Virus for mobile devices

In general, for many years now, hackers have been practicing malware, which they disguise as registry cleaners, defragmenters and antiviruses. At the same time, the programs look quite realistic, checking something there and even finding some kind of “viruses”. On Habré have already written on such handicrafts. This time, experts from CA found a fake Kaspersky Anti-Virus, which was created specifically for mobile devices.

After installing it on a mobile device, this “antivirus” starts looking for viruses, performing a “check” quite realistically, and finds some “viruses”. It is clear that in fact the program is not looking for anything, and when you try to remove "viruses", the user receives an error message. Even more interesting is that while this software does not harm the user - apparently, this is something like a sample of a hacker's pen or a group of hackers. The system displays the "scan progress" showing the scanned files and file system, which also does not match the real file system of the device.

Experts from CA believe that soon fake antiviruses for mobile devices will appear in large quantities, which will steal the user's personal information or block the phone with the requirement to send money, as is often the case with PCs. In general, so far nothing terrible has appeared, but, most likely, in a short time we will observe the mass appearance of such “antiviruses”.

On the other hand, maybe this is just a novice hacker started to practice writing software for mobile devices. In any case, the program seems to be flawed, so it is not clear why experts with such care pay attention to this problem ...
