Two weeks with two cores

Not so long ago, I became the owner of the device about which they wrote a lot on Habré and in the press. The first dual-core, the first dual-channel, etc. as a lover of new gadgets, I could not get around it.
I want to share with you the experience in preparing for normal operation of the LG Optimus 2X and some minor features in its design.

Appearance

In the photo and in life they are two different phones! When he first came into my hands, I immediately felt how much this apparatus in life is better than in the photo.

First of all, this is the screen, it’s hard to see in the photos, but the small bevels on the sides not only give it a special chic, but also tell positively on ergonomics.
Secondly, the soft touch touch feel is very pleasant, and the phone itself feels very solid.
Thirdly, it is weight, the phone does not feel like a toy, like the same Galaxy S, it feels closer to the monolithic iPhone.

Soft by default

The firmware that is installed on it by default, let's say so " very Korean ", and even eats the battery noticeably and slows down, so the first thing is to recommend everyone to flash .

Install the modified bootloader

1. Download the driver and the bootloader

2. Install the driver, then take the phone and tick:
Settings - Applications - Advanced Options - USB Debugging

3. Install the drivers from the archive. Connect the phone and wait for the big brother to find all the devices (about 5 minutes).

4. Unpack the archive with the loader. Run the file file " install-clockworkmod-windows.bat "

5. We are waiting for the process to pass. Everything, the loader is installed!

Choosing an alternative firmware and kernel

I liked the two versions that differ in the presence of a shell from LG and the corresponding programs:
- naked android 2.2
- a modified version of LG (I have this :)

For the device to work faster and eat less batteries, you need to install the modified Eternity Project kernel, the latest version 1.5

Download the links above and transfer to the EXTERNAL memory card (you can only flash with microSD).

We sew and install a new kernel

1. Download the phone in firmware mode:
- Turn off the phone
- disconnect the USB cable
- Hold down the “Volume down” button and the “Power” button and hold until the text “android” appears on the screen, then release the buttons.

2. Use the buttons (volume up and down, confirm the power button), select the “backup and restore - Backup” menu item.
Backups are saved in the / sdcard / _ExternalSD / clockworkmod / backup / folder - each backup weighs about 400MB.

3. After that, delete all previous settings. Select "wipe data / factory reset" - "Yes - delete all user data"

4. Flash the custom firmware - “install zip from sdcard” - “choose zip from sdcard” at the root of the disk, select the firmware. We are waiting for it to be sewn.

Next, we also flash the core of EternityPRJ_P990KRN

5. Go back to the menu item "+++ Go Back +++" and select the item "reboot system now"

6. We are all waiting for the fresh system to boot.

Interfaces and Speed

I also advise you to change the standard Launcher to another one from the Market, for example, I have GO launcher EX with the Honeycomb theme.

In general, the device is very fast especially after my previous Acer Liquid E with Cyanogen Mod, the screen fully perceives 10 touches, the pages load quickly, the flash does not slow down, everything is smooth and smoothly displayed. It feels a serious increase in performance in games and control due to the built-in gyroscope.
