Mongo Conference in Moscow - May 16

Good day!

I would like to tell you about the upcoming Mongo DB conference at Cifriab . Since the official announcements are unlikely to interest anyone, I will write a few things that are not on the office, but which may be of interest to the public.

Where did that come from

It seemed to me that there were too many web conferences in general at Cifriab, that is, on aspects related to management, advertising and all that, so I decided to make several technology conferences. MongoDB Moscow - the first of them; I hope that it is far from the last, and they will all be kept in the same format:
  1. First-hand: inviting technology developers. On May 16, the main part of the program will be presented by Richard Kreuter and Matius Stern, the developers of Mongo from 10gen.
  2. For those who are aware: do not let reports like "why you should use Mongo". Why - it should be clear from the report itself.
  3. Less powerpoint, more console: practical reports, based on the fact that the speaker does something with his product right on the stage: on a demo stand or in some other way.
To be honest, I'm not sure that this conference will ideally follow all the listed principles. At least, I can say that I explained them to Adam Kroll from 10gen, who understood and promised to convey to the speakers.

Money

I was forced to make a conference fee. Money covers clear expenses: air tickets and hotel for speakers, simultaneous interpreters, infrared headphones to the hall (we don’t have our own, we rent), coffee and food, etc. Now there was only one monetary sponsor for such a narrow technical conference, this amount would barely be enough for air tickets, and I am not sure that in the future I will be able to attract sponsors - they grumble in other places and there is no joy from sponsorship. I tried to adjust the budget so that I could work progressively: if a hundred people came, there would be coffee and buns. Two hundred - cognac and oysters. Three hundred - all the same, but deliver food around the hall will be on Segway.

Speakers and registration

In addition to the already mentioned developers from 10gen, Dmitry Belyaev from Ya Ndex will speak on “Temporary repositories in Ejabberd: Migration from Mnesia to MongoDB” - only Habr seems to know about this so far. There will be three more speakers, I will report on them later.

If you have questions, ask them in the comments or personally at dima@getalime.ru, I’ll be happy to answer. I will probably follow the rules of Habr and will not post a link to registration, since the conference is still a commercial service, albeit a thematic one; so I send everyone to the search engine of choice and preference. Participation costs 2,800 rubles, and you can also pay by bank transfer. If interested, now 86 people have registered, paid for the conference - 20.
