How Apple Influenced Web Design

Apple is one of the largest and most influential brands in the world. Perhaps Apple more than others influenced the development trends of applications and websites.

Much of Apple’s marketing campaigns are through apple.com.
Currently Alexa rated this site at 38th place in popularity, along with such giants as the BBC and Google.

The Apple site has earned a reputation as “clean and attractive.” Thanks to this reputation, other sites have become equal to apple.com. Apple's style is the same for all the company's products, ranging from packaging for iPad and ending with sidebar widgets.

Less is more
The biggest feature of the Apple website design is its minimalism. Designers retain it with the help of large areas of white space to focus on the content.

The main page usually has a large photo of the actual product, a slogan and several links to other articles. For example, now on the site is a large photo of the iPad 2.

This design does not overload you with information. It is assumed that you will choose what you are interested in, unlike the Microsoft website.

Organization of information
There are some sections of the site where you just need to provide a lot of information. Its division into pages would be inconvenient for users. But here, everything seems clean and simple thanks to the correct grid.

Now on the iPod's page at the top are large alternating photos of the main product. Below it is divided into 3 additional devices, which, in turn, are further divided into 6 parts, creating a strict hierarchy.

Such a pyramid effect can be observed throughout the Apple site.

Product Photos
As mentioned earlier, Apple prefers to use one big picture, instead of a large number of small ones. Almost every page has a large picture of an Apple product. Price and features fade into the background. The main thing is to create a pleasant first impression and a memorable visual image.

Animation and interactivity with new standards
As you know, Apple is a fighter for new standards, such as HTML5. Their website confirms this by demonstrating several interactive developments without using Flash.
“We also know that the cause of Mac # 1 crash is Flash”

Interface effect
Not only the Apple site has a great impact on design, software has a similar effect. IOS uses a number of unique interface elements that have become evident for web applications and websites. For example, a slider switch from iOS can be seen in some web applications.
