Hello, dear Habra community. I would like to present to the court a righteous one project, which for the last two months my and
Nikolski restless minds have been busy with - the
Ukrainian social telephone directory “Who Calls?”The story of the emergence of the project idea is very simple. I decided to sell my old Sonerik m600i and placed ads on a couple of forums. I was answered by several people and asked to call them back with their phone numbers. Without thinking twice, I decided to google these numbers (it is worth noting that Google’s share in Uaneta is several times higher than the share of Yandex). Then the idea of a social telephone directory was born, in which anyone could anonymously leave information about a mobile phone number: a comment about its owner, a review of the services provided, advertising, etc.
We launched the first version of the project in just a couple of weeks, and a month ago we launched a project in a new design and with new features. More details about the project features.
Phone numbers
At the moment, the site contains absolutely all numbers of mobile operators in Ukraine and landline numbers. They are not taken from any database - the numbers are simply generated by exhaustive search. One of the areas of work on the project - promotion of specific search queries.
Commenting numbers
Leave a comment about the phone number can anyone, publicly or anonymously. Comments are pre-moderated, where stupidities, names, addresses, etc. are removed from them. When creating a comment to the number, you also need to introduce yourself (at least somehow), indicate the general meaning of the comment (“positive” / “negative”) and choose the subject of the comment. It is worth noting that if users come to us, with a reasoned request to delete a particular comment, we will respond immediately.

Additional features
On the site, you can log in via
Loginza (supported by
Google and
Facebook ). Authorization allows you to add comments (and in fact - phone numbers) to the "Favorites" and write public comments.
Those interested can subscribe to the E-mail newsletter notifications about new comments to a given number.
For owners of Android-smartphones there is a
simple application that allows you to check the phone number and leave new comments directly from the device.
For active fans of the project, we have released a
plug-in for FireFox , which searches for phone numbers on the pages you are viewing and when you hover over them, offers a direct link to the page of this number on the “Who Calls?” Project.
Some statistics.
Among the comments unconditional leadership is occupied by warnings about mobile fraud. To be honest, before working on the project, I didn’t suspect that this is such a hot topic today. On the second most popular place - complaints about unscrupulous suppliers of goods and services, "kidalovo", "divorce", etc. By the way, there are a lot of comments from online store owners about unscrupulous customers. In third place, you can safely put advertising. There are comments about unfaithful husbands, walking wives, declarations of love, congratulations, or simply "This is my number :)."
Here it is, our
social telephone directory "Who Calls?" . So far, we, the authors of the project, have not set any specific goals for ourselves and the project. The work is done in the hunt and it seems that the result benefits people. At least thanks come to the feedback.
UPD : In addition to mobile and landline numbers,
3-digit ,
4-digit and
5-digit short phone numbers as well as
audio -
tex numbers (call-center numbers of the form
0-800 ,
0-900 and
0-703 ) have appeared.
