Microsoft Research Summer School on Computer Vision
From July 28 to August 3, 2011, at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov will host the Microsoft Summer School for Computer Vision (Microsoft Computer Vision Summer School). The school is sponsored by Microsoft Research, Microsoft Research.
For the first time a school of this level is held in Russia. School lecturers are the world's leading scientists in the field of computer vision and image analysis, set the trends and directions of development of the entire field. For example, Andrew Blake and Andrew Fitzgibbon made a significant contribution to the Kinect technology - a real revolution in the field of human-computer interfaces.
In addition to courses on mathematical methods and computer vision algorithms, at school you will learn about the structure of the field as a whole, about the rules for writing articles at leading scientific conferences. A separate section will be devoted to the experience of creating startups in the field of computer vision. You will have the opportunity to personally communicate with the founders and leaders of several Russian start-ups. The presence of representatives of Skolkovo IT Cluster is expected, who will tell about the opportunities provided by Skolkovo to the project participants.

Participation in the school is free; nonresident participants are provided with a hostel and three meals a day. The working language of the school is English, however some reports will be read in Russian, therefore participants must be fluent in both languages. Minimal participant training should include an introductory course on algorithms and basic programming skills (in C ++).
You can apply for participation on the school website until April 30 inclusive . The application must be accompanied by a summary in English and a technical article. This may be a term paper or a thesis, an article for a conference, just a report on a personal project. The main thing is that she positively characterized the applicant's qualifications! It does not matter if the work was in another field of computer science. Familiarity with computer vision is welcome, but not a necessary condition for participating in school.
It is worth noting that the school participants have a chance to win an Xbox360 with Kinect, and take him home.
