Not so often given the opportunity to change something around them or do something for the city. And here we had a chance: Volga TGC announced a
competition for the design of the hatch cover. Usually we draw icons and other graphics for interfaces, and here a huge heavy cast iron hatch! In case of victory in Samara, such hatches will appear, plus, the authors will be presented with one cover.
The prospect of getting a trophy in the form of a hatch cover of our own design seemed very tempting to us. It's almost industrial design! But first I needed some kind of idea. What is usually depicted on the hatches? Some kind of incomprehensible letters and nondescript pictures.
We decided that we need to make the design of the hatch interesting for citizens and guests of the city. To hatch was about Samara and its attractions. To be sure, we drew two options:
')

Vector layouts are not very visual, so it was decided to render in 3D to understand how the covers will look. At the same time, I will tell in more detail about each hatch.
Hatch game "Samara routes"

The main purpose of the manhole cover is to securely close the well. There are not so many secondary functions: it can be beautiful and brilliant, and homeless cats can also be heated on it. We thought: “What if we make the hatch a subject of entertainment?” Combined the board game with dice and the classic round iron hatch. Instead of magical kingdoms, we chose the city of Samara as a place of action, but drew it according to fabulous canons. Now every citizen or guest of the city, having chosen a fine day, can play a game or two in the “Samara Routes”. The rules of the game are written directly on the hatch.

This is how the hatch would have looked on Leningradskaya Street.Jubilee hatch "Globus Samara"

In Nikolai Nosov's fairy-tale novel Dunno on the Moon, the Earth satellite appears hollow, and lunatics live right inside the Moon. This undoubtedly successful discovery inspired us to create the Globe of Samara. Everything is very simple: we draw characteristic Samara sights inside the circle, which ideally fits on the hatch. The picture turned out to be a little unscientific, but it does not pretend to be a teaching tool. But it will be easier for guests of the city to choose interesting places in Samara for inspection.
We believe that there is nothing of the kind in the heating and gas distribution networks of the VTGK :)
