Contactless charging for mobile devices

Texas Instruments has released a chip for wireless reception of electricity, which calls nothing less than "revolutionary." The bq51013 microcircuit is miniature (case 1.9 x 3 mm), cheap ($ 3.50 in quantities from 1000 pieces) and has an efficiency of up to 93%, which is comparable to conventional AC / DC adapters.

According to the manufacturer, the technology is finally ripe for use in any electronic devices: mobile phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, game consoles, GPS navigators, D / U consoles, electric toothbrushes, car accessories, medical equipment, etc. d. The bq51013 charger delivers a power of 5 W, the input voltage is up to 20 V.

The bq51013 receiver is placed on a bqTESLA150LP printed circuit board with a size of 15 x 5 mm. This is an acceptable size for any portable electronics itself.

Texas Instruments is now sending sample chips and SDK kits (the bq51013 receiver with the bq500110 transfer controller ) to device manufacturers. Hopefully, wireless recharging will very soon become a widely accepted standard.
