The recent news that
Android has overtaken the iPhone in the smartphone market has caused a flurry of different opinions. Many for some reason very emotionally reacted to this dry statistics. Some triumphed, others claimed that the methodology was incorrect. Still others said that if you count the iPad and iPod, then all the same, iOS remains a more popular system than Android.
To explain the reasons for such strange user behavior, the Business Insider website conducted
its own survey , which was attended by more than 2,000 people.
The sample can be called quite representative. The ratio of owners of iPhone and Android roughly corresponds to the market share.
Most users are planning to upgrade the smartphone in the next year or two. As for the choice of platform, more than half are not going to switch to another platform. This applies to both iPhone and Android users. But between these people there is an important difference.

Most iPhone users have agreed that they will still buy an Android / Blackberry / WP7 smartphone, if that one surpasses their favorite iPhone in terms of convenience and functionality. This result disproves the existing opinion about the so-called “Apple fans” with high brand loyalty. This is not, rather, this phenomenon is observed in the opposite camp.
In contrast, Android users are not ready to migrate to another platform, even if it is better and more functional. Why? The main reason is “I hate Apple.” This answer was chosen by 55.7% (!) Of the owners of Android devices.
Another 31.2% said that they could buy the iPhone if Apple technology was better compatible with devices from other companies. This result also looks dangerous for the business of the "apple" company, which traditionally relies on a closed hardware and software platform.
Disclaimer: 16.1% of survey participants found out about it on Android fan sites, which clearly influenced the survey results, but not drastically. It should also be added that the choice of answer options was not very successful, and the “I hate Apple” option often suggested itself by itself for want of something better.
