At the moment, Yota offers three mobile devices that allow you to use WiMax on Apple laptops:

* SWC-E100 * SWC-U200 * Yota Egg *

A small review of devices and software for MacOS under the cat.
SWC-E100

Connection interface | Express card |
Output signal power | 0.2 W |
Power consumption | 2.5 W |
Dimensions | 118 Ă— 39.4 Ă— 14 mm |
Weight | 37.5 g |
Price Price.ru | from 1990 rub. |
The device in the format of express card is only suitable for MacBook Pro 17 ", on models with a smaller diagonal there is no this connector.
')

The device looks stylish and is quite compact (most of it is hidden inside the laptop).
A small two-color LED indicates the status (looking ahead, I will say that with an active connection, the color changes to blue). Very pleased that the light is dim and not annoying.
After installing the E100 in MacOS, the movement began:

Thus, the modem is prepared to work under Mac. Everything runs fast enough and smoothly:

I decided not to use compact discs (especially since I don't have a DVD drive), but downloaded the latest version of the software from the site and installed it:

Icon Yota Access has taken its place in the Menu Bar:

In my opinion, the color logo looks a bit immodest surrounded by other monochrome icons.
Now you can activate the device in your account and start testing speed. I tested it on the website yota.ru, because to use speedtest.net I would have to pay for the Internet for each device. :)
In the article
Testing Wi-Fi antennas for receiving WiMax, I used speedtest.net and made sure that the Yota test even slightly understates the readings compared to it.

The speed is great.

The CINR / RSSI values too (you can find out what these values are in the note
habrahabr.ru/blogs/WiMAX/116837 ).
“Remember” these results and move on to the next device.
SWC-U200

Connection interface | USB 2.0 |
Output signal power | 0.2 W |
Power consumption | 2.5 W |
Dimensions | 70 Ă— 27 Ă— 14 mm |
Weight | 25 g |
Price Yota.ru | 2390 rub. |
The SWC-U200 modems come in three colors - white, red and gray. The photo shows a white version. It looks like a big flash drive. An interesting mechanism is the closure of the USB connector. The shutter with the Samsung inscription can hide it completely and protect it from the effects of an aggressive environment (I am sure that there is no such thing in the pockets and bags of my dear readers, but we still write it down).

In the photo the device looks fine, but for the first time I connected it in the dark. The blue light was just unbearably bright and very distracting. To the credit of Yota, in Yota Access for U200 provides for disabling this illumination; We do not write to the minus. I forgot to mention that there were no spontaneous firmware updates, and I also downloaded Yota Access for this device and installed it from the site.
It is worth mentioning one more thing: when Yota Access was installed, it did not find the connected modem. Intuitively, it was decided to pull out and insert a modem, after which he immediately showed up and successfully connected.
The results were obtained similarly to the previous ones:

Download speed is inferior to E100 is not much, but Upload speed significantly lower.

There are differences in CINR / RSSI from the previous device, but they can be easily attributed to the measurement error.
Yota egg
After an excellent review of Bumburum, I will not describe it. I will give only a photo (see above) and parameters:
Output signal power | 0.2 W |
Dimensions | 110 Ă— 61.8 Ă— 28.3 mm |
Weight | 130 g |
Price Yota.ru | 4990 rub. |
Results:

CINR 20 dB / RSSI -50 dBm
Findings:
Yota Egg is a unique device. It comes to any device equipped with Wi-Fi, and it can provide several devices with the Internet at the same time. If you have a need to deploy a mobile office and connect to the network iPhone, iPad, any other communicators, tablets, laptops and desktops running any modern operating system, Yota Egg is what you need. However, comparing it with USB and Express Card modems is not entirely correct. Along with all its advantages, it is larger, more expensive, has a limited battery life (needs a wall outlet or USB cable connection). Therefore, the "classic" modems are still relevant.
ExpressCard modem - SWC E100 - in my opinion the best choice for the owner of MacBook Pro 17 ". It is more compact than a USB sibling, provides the highest speed and leaves free a USB port, of which there are only three on the laptop.
SWC - U200 is suitable for any MacBook model (not only Pro 17 "), iMac, Mac PRO and Yota Ready routers. It is much more versatile.
The Yota software doesn’t look raw on Mac, works flawlessly, but it could be adapted better to MacOS in style. I did not encounter difficulties in the process of working with devices, my expectations were not deceived, so I cannot help but recommend Yota as an excellent solution for high-speed mobile Internet to owners of Apple devices.
In this review, all Yota mobile devices were tested, except Yota Jingle. It does not support MacOS, but if you use Windows, you can pay attention to it, since it is the most affordable model (1,790 rubles).
PS About the differences between Windows and Mac software versions:

What is the explanation of these differences is difficult to say. Can someone suggest an interesting hypothesis in the comments.
