Many developers in life, sooner or later need to share with someone a
piece of code, for various purposes. I am not an exception, and in due time I took the time to search for such a service to fit my needs.
History and description
A bit of history
For a start, the eminent service [pastie.org] came into consideration: inserting the code, the ability to make the snippet private (not publish to the general lists), as well as edit after the post if a typo was suddenly made. It would seem: not bad. But there is no registration, which means that it will be problematic to keep track of the added codes and, if necessary, edit any of them, or delete them at any time. The search went on.
The next stop was [pastebin.com]: there is already a registration. Accounting added code has become real. But the password protection function was not here. It is clear that the private code will not be published anyway, but nevertheless. In addition, I did not like the presence of more than enough advertising.
A good stop was [ideone.com], because tags appeared and some more bonuses, but it quickly became boring, seemed superfluous, and the tagged game made it clear: I want folders for grouping files so that you can share several at once.

As a result, it became clear that everything must be done by yourself.
From words - to business
What was needed?
1. In the case of haste, quickly and without registration, add a snippet with the minimum number of required fields to fill out - as a last resort only the code itself, and immediately get a link to it;
2. The ability to create an account, and be able to freely dispose of it with its snippets. To be able to hide the snippet from the “public” lists, make password access to it, it would be nice to add tags;
3. Calm design, no annoying ads.
This became the basis for the start of work in mid-February 2011. Over time, other bonuses were added: Facebook login, file downloads, the ability to put the file on download with automatic substitution of the source code and title, the organization of an arbitrary folder structure, embedding Disqus system just in case, and much more.
The project is still actively complemented, so let not be afraid of flaws or curves: a lot can change over time.
