Intel plans to release netbooks with a price of up to $ 199 in the second half of 2011



Digitimes published a note yesterday, the content of which suggests that, despite the growing popularity of tablet computers, the corporation does not intend to abandon the production of netbooks, but plans to release these devices at a very attractive price of about 199 in collaboration with reputable partners like Asustek Computer and Acer $ for such regions as Central Asia, Latin America and (!) Eastern Europe.

Characteristically, the netbook will use the operating system MeeGo. Intel, according to sources, is currently developing applications for it, taking into account the specifics of the regions. Engineering samples of new models, allegedly, have already been demonstrated to Intel partners. It is expected that ASUStek Computer, Acer and several Chinese companies will launch new products in the second half of this year.

It is also worth recalling that Intel joined the well-known project of producing a cheap netbook for developing countries XO-1 in the summer of 2007, but left it in January 2008.
