After
yesterday's news about the release of the first Firefox alpha 6 in the Nightly channel (formerly Minefield), the Mozilla Foundation launched the Aurora channel today, immediately uploading the second Firefox alpha 5 (formerly 4.2a2pre). This channel, as well as Nightly or Release, will be updated automatically, in the background and install updates when the browser is restarted.
In order to download and install Firefox 5 alpha 2 for yourself - visit the new
Firefox Future Releases page (the page in English, like Aurora itself). Additionally, you can subscribe to the news feeds of the Aurora and Beta channels.
In the same place, after a while, you can find Firefox Beta, which will become available when Firefox 5 enters this stage (Firefox 6 will go to Aurora, and Firefox 7 will start in Nightly). Recall that the transition code from branch to branch, according to plans, will occur every five weeks:
