Evernote for Windows: Facebook and Twitter integration, sharing and more
Today, Evernote for Windows has received the most significant update in recent months. The main news is sharing. Windows users can now share selected notes in Evernote with their friends and colleagues directly from the app. But that is not all. We also added some other frequently requested features and enhancements. Now about everything in order.
We want to give you the opportunity to easily and simply share your thoughts and ideas with interested people. This Evernote for Windows update provides various options for opening access to your notes to others who need to satisfy all your collaboration needs.
Now you can quickly share a single note with friends and relatives using Facebook, Twitter, email and other options. We have added the Share button to the notes menu. Click on it and select the preferred way to open access.

Let's say you want to share a note via Twitter. After selecting the appropriate option, Evernote synchronizes this note to get the parameters of the public link, and opens in the browser a window for adding a note to Twitter. We will also automatically enter in the message field the name of the note that you can edit. After that, you will only have to post your message by clicking on the appropriate button. Similarly, it works for Facebook.
Please note that an open note can be viewed by any person who follows a published link. You can always prohibit sharing by selecting “Share> Deny access” in the context menu of the note.
Shared access to a notebook is a great option for when you work with a group on a single project, plan a family trip or brainstorm with your team - in general, you are dealing with something more ambitious than one note.
Now above the left column you will see two tabs - “Own” and “Aliens”. On the first, as before, notebooks and tags from your personal account will be displayed. On the “Others” tab - connected notebooks and sharing settings.
To configure the sharing options for a notebook, click on the “Others” tab, and then on the “Access settings” item. Then select the notebook you want to open and follow the instructions. It will be possible to specify individuals to whom you want to open access, indicate the need to enter a password for access, etc.
Premium subscribers can also allow other users to edit their notes, turning Evernote into a powerful collaboration tool.
Opening access to your notes and notebooks is not all. New Evernote for Windows allows you to simplify viewing of notebooks that were open to you. Every time someone gives you access to a notebook, the latter binds to your Evernote account. As we mentioned above, the list of notebooks connected to your account is now available in a convenient way on the “Others” tab.
Here is an example of a public notebook with a selection of infographics found on the Internet. Click on the “Link to my account” button, and it will always be at hand in the Windows client.
A nice little thing: the linked notebooks will be synchronized and stored locally on your computer, so that you can view notes in them even without access to the Internet.
Note that by default, Evernote synchronizes the associated notepads less often than your own. You can change this in the settings of each notepad. Thus, if you are going to work offline, make sure that every notebook connected to your account, access to which you may need, is synchronized.
Many people actively use Evernote to work with text. This version contains three new features that will help you in writing the main novel of your life or course work.
The item “Show the number of notes and words” appeared in the “View” menu. Turn it on, and a status bar will appear at the bottom of the notes pane, where, among other things, the number of words and characters in the current open note will be displayed.
When searching within a specific note, you can now use the search and replace functionality. Press Ctrl + H in the note to enter this mode.
We also modified our text editor to work more correctly with multilevel indents.
