Sony and GeoHot settled the conflict

It seems that the threat of prosecution of the hacker GeoHot has passed - the other day, Sony announced that the conflict was settled. True, it is not known how, but it is known that the peace agreement between the corporation and GeoHot was signed on March 31st. Sony representatives have recently said that they are very pleased that the conflict has been settled, and the parties have been able to agree.

Earlier, GeoHot has repeatedly stated that by its actions he was not going to provoke anyone to commit unlawful actions, and he also studied the console in order to study the possibility of installing third-party software, and not to damage Sony. Anyway, and Sony is a powerful enough opponent, and for some reason one has to doubt that the peace agreement is beneficial for both parties.

On his personal blog, the hacker has not yet commented on the agreement. But he announced that he was joining a large-scale action, the purpose of which is to boycott the products of this corporation. As you can see, GeoHot is clearly not very pleased with the actions of Sony, and who could be satisfied in this situation?

On Habré, we have already discussed the legality of studying and “hacking” the purchased game console, comparing the process of changing it with the modding of the car. Indeed, no one sues thousands of tuning lovers who change cars beyond recognition. In general, there really is something to discuss.

In any case, this situation with GeoHot can divert a large number of users from Sony products - after all, who knows what the company will do next time, trying to protect its “intellectual property”, which seems to be selling for money, but the person who bought the console for a rather big amount, is not its full owner, does it happen so?
