Many Western social resources in China are blocked - for example, the Facebook social network is also unavailable for Chinese citizens. But not a single large foreign IT company can pass by the huge number of potential
customers of users, which can be the majority of Chinese citizens. So, in China, Microsoft has been working for a long time and successfully, Google is also working there, less successfully, and wants to start Facebook there as well. Unfortunately for the latter, the Chinese authorities are not going to unblock this social network. However, Facebook and Baidu in the near future can create a truly Chinese social network, which is intended only for this country.
At least, negotiations on this topic are already close to completion, and after the approval of the Chinese government (and judging by the participation in the Baidu negotiations, the Chinese government will not be against it), a social network for the Chinese will begin to build up at a rapid pace. So far, the launch date of the new resource is questionable, but the probability of its occurrence is almost 100%. Negotiations between Facebook and Baidu have been going on for a long time - last year Zuckerberg flew to China to meet with Robin Lee, the executive director of Baidu.com.

In principle, such a transaction makes sense for both parties. From Facebook, such a deal is profitable because this company will be able to enter China, having started working in this country tightly - and indeed, with a successful approach, the audience of the new resource can be many millions of Chinese. For Baidu, a project shared with Facebook will also be very beneficial - after all, the search service No. 1 in China has long been willing to become a social resource No. 1. And in China there are several social networks that are working, and quite successfully.
Earlier in China, the once-popular MySpace social network in the world, which was defeated in China and in the world, tried to work. Perhaps the new, unified resource created by the efforts of Baidu and Facebook teams will be truly successful. Apparently, the agreement on cooperation has not yet been signed, however, a project is clearly outlined here, which is rather large even by the standards of China.
