Earlier this year, our company announced new components for use in HP ProLiant servers. Since January, DDR3 memory modules manufactured using 40 nanometer technology have become available to the HP ProLiant G7, and compared to 60-nm modules, the previous generation DDR2 works twice as fast and at the same time consumes less energy by 73%. The new production technology allows you to increase the size of the slats up to 32 GB, so the maximum amount of RAM dual-socket HP ProLiant G7 based on the Xeon 5600, which have 18 DIMM slots, doubled to 384 GB, and their counterparts based on AMD Opteron 6100 equipped with 24 DIMM slots , grew to 584 GB. Finally, our flagship HP ProLiant DL980 G7 eight-socket model with Xeon 7500 processors is scaled to two terabytes using 32GB memory modules. This amount of RAM is required if servers are used for virtualization, large database maintenance and high performance computing.
Also from January, HP ProLiant G7 owners have been offered 10 Gigabit Ethernet cards to connect servers to converged networks. With built-in support for FCoE and iSCSI, they relieve server CPUs from processing the network traffic of these protocols.
Released at the end of last year, the HP ProLiant BL620c G7 and HP ProLiant BL680c G7 servers are equipped with FlexFabric adapters that, when used together with the HP Virtual Connect modules, provide connection of the Blade servers to both the LAN and SAN.

HP Virtual Connect technologies are also used in the new HP NC553m FlexFabric and HP NC552m Flex-10 network adapters, which can provide 10GbE, iSCSI and FCoE connectivity for all models of HP ProLiant G6 and G7 Blade servers. FlexFabric technology allows you to divide each 10-gigabit port into four network channels, which allows you to more flexibly distribute the load between virtual machines.

For ProLiant DL servers, QLogic offers a CN1000Q dual port 10 Gigabit adapter with simultaneous processing of FCoE, 10GbE and iSCSI protocols.
Finally, representatives of the standard HP server architecture department stated that soon 800-GB and 400-GB solid-state drives, which Seagate introduced in mid-March, will be available for use in HP ProLiant servers.
