Roger Halbeer, Microsoft security manager in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, confirmed the fact that Microsoft had infiltrated the server. According to Halbeer, hackers for a certain period of time threw the Microsoft server with special requests, causing the generation of error messages. From these messages, the attackers obtained the necessary information about the server configuration and then implemented the site deface. At the same time, the hacker who hacked the Microsoft server introduced himself as rEmOtEr.

Currently Microsoft.co.uk is working as usual. The error that allowed hacking has been eliminated. However, Halbeer stresses that with the proper configuration of the software, the attack could have been avoided.

It is noteworthy that about a year ago, the French site Microsoft was hacked. Then the page of experts.microsoft.fr was defaced, on which cybercriminals posted a message on behalf of Turkish hackers. Within a day after the hack, Microsoft France's Experts remained inaccessible.
