Twitter has greatly improved its search.

Manual Twitter service announced an updated search, which, according to the developers, works three times faster than the previous one. The significant improvement in search performance is due to the fact that developers have replaced Ruby-on-Rails with Java-server Bender Blender. A graph showing how the search performance has been improved has also been shared.

It is worth noting that the search on Twitter, it was decided to update after problems with the processing of search queries associated with the word "Tsunami". Why this query has become so popular, quite understandable, and a week ago Twitter ran into significant difficulties due to the increasing number of such search queries. Generally speaking, service users form about 1 billion requests per day - these are official statistics provided by the resource itself.

According to the Twitter team, after the introduction of Blender's work, everything has become much better to work with, and now the search on microblogs does not “slow down”, like a week ago. Interestingly, Twitter can now work with the number of requests 10 times the limit load that the service was able to handle earlier.

Technical information on the work carried out is available here . For Twitter, such a significant reduction in server load means an opportunity to save on installing additional equipment. For end users, this means faster search and service as a whole.
