iRiver W10: media player with VoIP-phone

While the whole world is in line for iPhones, iRiver has announced its new development - the W10 multi-media player. This cute and relatively compact device combines the capabilities of a multimedia player with the features of a VoIP phone.


iRiver W10 is equipped with a 3-inch widescreen touch screen with a resolution of 480 × 272 pixels, an FM receiver, a Wi-Fi module and a miniSD memory card slot. It runs under Windows CE with a specially designed graphical shell. The device is capable of playing MP3, WMA, MPEG-4 and WMV files. In addition to the video, you can also view graphic files on the W10 screen. Depending on the delivery, the amount of internal memory of the device will be 4 or 8GB.

By connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi, using W10, you can make and receive calls, just like in the case of a regular VoIP phone. Wi-Fi is also used for another interesting function: calculating the position relative to the position of several Wi-Fi access points. Not for our latitudes, but at least interesting.
