At the last 404 Festival I ruled the design section. The most interesting reports of the section were recorded on video. I bring to your attention a selection of the most interesting design video from the Festival.
The entire design section was on the second day, but the most useful designer report opened the Festival on the first day. Bill Buxton, a designer with a capital letter, spoke to us. What is there a designer - a scientist, a specialist in the interaction of man and computer, a world-wide personality.

It all started in 1993 with Mosaic browser, then our ideas about websites were made up of GUI traditions, which in turn were dictated by personal computers and laptops. But since then, when smartphones began to be used to access the Internet, it became clear that the traditional model is not perfect. In my presentation, I will look at the era of mobile devices and talk about the digital eco-system in which we will live very soon, as well as about the different forms of life that populate this system. The current problems with the web and mobile Internet will fade in comparison with the upcoming changes.Browsers of the future will be different from the present, as now the Internet is different from newspapers and magazines.
For ridiculous and incomprehensible reasons, the report of Ilya Birman was in the usability section. I decided to correct this misunderstanding and add it to the selection of designer videos from the Festival.
All the guys want to make a good interface. Some use the words “simplicity”, “convenience” and even “usability”.Others say the interface should want to lick. Why do they say all this? What should be the perfect interface, say, a mobile phone? What is the criterion of ideality? Why is the interface evil?I will try to answer these questions, including myself :-)
Our comrade Artyom Geller once again told that we should not forget about people with disabilities and take care of the availability of sites for this essential social group.
