Why donations are better than PPA

Having started writing this topic I’m already afraid for my rating. And the point is not that donations are bad, but that few people believe that it works. But despite this, I will still write it, because I consider raising this topic more important than my rating.

Despite the fact that the PPA was announced on April 1 ( http://habrahabr.ru/blogs/announcements/116652/ ) this is not a joke. What is the problem of PPA in the form in which it is presented here? In the beginning it may even work, but in the end, it can lead Habr into something similar to many of the modern media. What can hit the jackpot? Surprises, provocations, etc. The problem is that over time, they will start working not for quality, but for rating (it happens now, but not to the extent that it can happen).

Why are donations better?

First, because paying money is more difficult than putting a plus. Plus, I can deliver because of the good sense of humor of the author or simply because he thinks the same way as I do. I will transfer the money in the event that the article was useful to me.

Secondly, the PPA limits the amount of promotion. I can donate both 50 and 500, and not only for the article, but by reading the author’s past articles and deciding to tell him “write escho!” As a donation.
