PR instead of sex


The fashionable phrase public relations (PR) or public relations will soon be at the peak of popularity. Is not it? Admit, does your company have a PR department? Do not be shy, he is. You did not understand for a long time what it is for, but still it was created and is now functioning well.

I’ll also tell you that this department is doing a lot of things: from advertising to building mutually beneficial relationships with partners, advertisers and others. The same department organizes corporate events, orders souvenirs and many more of which it “carries” on itself.

As a PR employee, I know that a lot of work is part of the responsibilities of a PR manager. But not always he (PR man) is able to perform truly important functions (for various reasons):

  1. Not enough for all the time;
  2. The PR does not know what he should do: there is little professional knowledge and experience;
  3. No one bothers, etc.

Which functions are of the highest priority, of course, are determined by market trends, but also by the PR-specialist himself, who should offer ideas and solutions to the tots, and not wait for another thought to be thrown. The RetailMedia blog is partly for retailers, so I’ll say that it’s a priority for PR people (PR department) who work in trading companies:
  1. Media Relations (media relations, blogs to be included in the list). It is important to provide timely news to journalists: not only press releases.
  2. Holding conferences and other business events for partners.
  3. High priority. IR (Investor Relations) . All trading companies, and others too, need additional. cash injections for further development. The search for an investor is the hardest work, and the PR man is able to build relationships with society in such a way that the necessary information reaches important people who, quite possibly, will come to you themselves, if done correctly.
  4. Participation in the strategic development of the company. This is one of the priorities. If the PR department has no idea what will happen to the company in the near future, it will not be able to competently build “ties and friendships” with society.
  5. Work with the end user. To build communication with the help of blogs, round tables, discussions and other means of mass communication. I do not tell you to go and conduct BTL actions in stores, but I recommend not to promise gifts for participating in something, but to actually give them. Believe me, a camera for 15 thousand rubles, presented to a girl from St. Petersburg, will bring more benefit to you and the company, rather than if you take it yourself or declare a relative or friend to be the winner. Good and honesty are the best tools for mastering the mass consciousness.
