Twenty-five Alter Ego

In communities like Habra, where the issue of relevance of a topic is decided by a vote, there is a problem of multiple registration of one person under different nicknames, who then suddenly decide to vote for one topic, as a result of which he becomes popular. It is clear that in a reasonable web community, where adults live, this question is not particularly relevant (although the problem is not completely removed). But what to do if it is assumed that the site will be visited mainly by the young and very young generation? A fifteen-year-old student will do everything so that his thought, dull and containing grammatical ashipki, soars up to the ceiling. The question arises: how to control such things?

I now closely attended to this issue, and I would like to express what I think about this. Of course, your comments and thoughts will be very valuable.

We imply that this is a socially oriented, open to all website, with all the advantages and disadvantages of a regular website. What methods can be used:
  1. At the first registration, record the IP and prohibit re-registration from this IP for, say, an hour.
Pros: so far only one - not everyone wants to wait an hour for re-registration.
Potential problems: (a) the user may reconnect, (b) another user from the same IP will not be able to register and (c) very patient users can wait a bit.
  2. Same as in claim 1, but, bearing in mind the possibility of reconnecting with obtaining another IP, impose a restriction on, say, 5 minutes from a certain IP range. Pros and cons are the same as in claim 1
  3. Use of cookies.
Pros: conditionally iron (with reservations, see below) guarantee the impossibility of re-registration
Cons: the user can simply remove the cookie.
  4. Using user sessions.
Pros: the same as in paragraph 2
Cons: just restart the browser, and everything goes down the drain.
  5. Forbid registration from one e-mail.
The way is stupid, because any person is able to register a ton of addresses.
Combined. All superior items in any combination. Accordingly, it accumulates all their pros and cons.

The other does not come to mind yet. What do you say, habra people?
