Hello dear habrayuzer! After a long break after Alpha, we are happy to present you the beta version of qutIM, codenamed SciFi. Over the year, a lot of work has been done and it will be described below what has appeared new.
The Jabber plugin was rewritten from Gloox to Jreen : Due to the fact that the development of gloox was stopped, it was decided to change the library from Gloox to Jreen, written and currently being actively developed by the qutIM team. Unlike the first, Jreen is completely asynchronous, which has a positive effect on responsiveness.
New file transfer engine, in which there are several options for file transfer: Directly from client to client and through narod.ru. Currently, the engine is in active development and therefore may be unstable.
Ports on Symbian and Maemo 5 : For this year, qutIM has become much more mobile, ports for Symbian and Maemo 5 have appeared . One Pole is developing the qutIM port for Android, which unfortunately is delayed due to the terrible lack of hands. On other platforms (iOS, webOS, MeeGo), because of the lack of hands, it’s not even possible to dream :(
')
QML themes : Added support for themes and poplums in QML. This is still an experimental feature, so in order to use it, you need to be strong in spirit and ready to dive into exploring the possibilities of QML. Are you there? Then we are waiting for you! Documentation on the creation of chat topics can be found on our forum .
Contact list : Now with the contact list, you can do whatever your heart desires. You can make a list, and you can split the protocols. You can change the delegate to draw CL, the model responsible for their organization. But again, there are not enough hands to write models, so now only the “no accounts” list is implemented, that is, all contacts in one list.
LibAstral : Initial support for Freedesktop's Telepathy framework. There was support for reading thoughts and storing them in my head through a telepathy framework. Added experimental support for looking into the past and predicting the future.
Touchscreen support : Started in simbian, migrated to Maemo, and somehow ended up in the desktop version :)
Integration with Win, Mac, KDE, Maemo : There is integration with Windows 7, KDE4, GNOME (Started), Mac OS X and Maemo.
Libpurple : Thanks to support for protocols from libpurple, qutIM now supports all those protocols that are included in this library.
Chat Forms : There are several chat forms: Mobile version, where management is carried out with gestures and desktop.
New site and new logo : Taking this opportunity, I want to say that so far in qutIM not paid due attention to the logo. Now there is a development of a new logo that “light”, which you now see in front of you, is the first experiments in this direction. It was also updated, but rather a new site was born.
DBus API and Script API : Javascript and DBus libqutim bindings allow you to write simple extensions or remotely manage a cutime.
