Google rolled out localized search in Iraq and Tunisia

Google continues to actively develop services and continue to work, despite all sorts of different difficulties due to the problems of the Google Books project and the legal process in Europe. Yesterday, the company announced the launch of a localized search for Iraq and Tunisia. I do not know how many people use the Internet in Iraq, but in any case, a search service in their own language is nice.

The localized service in Iraq will work on the google.iq domain, and in Tunisia, on the google.tn domain. I am surprised how no one seized such “tasty” domains - in Ukraine, google.ua still seems to be not owned by a corporation, despite a lawsuit lasting several months last year.

Localized service in Tunisia and Iraq allows you to search for the necessary information in Arabic, as well as in other languages that are used in the region (Kurdish in Iraq and French in Tunisia). In any case, such information was provided by one of the managers of the company, Abdel-Karim Mardini, working in the Middle East and Africa. According to the company, "local" domains can make the Internet more open to local residents.

It also reported that the corporation is going to continue to work on the localization of its search service. So far, 40 languages have been identified, which are the most common in the world and are spoken by more than 99% of Internet users in the world.

In general, good news for the people of Tunisia and Iraq, that's for sure.
