The first beta version of Ubuntu 11.04 has become available for download and testing. There was no official announcement yet, but you can download or upgrade to the new version right now.

Changes compared to Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 3:

2) Improved ALT + F2 command

There is a history of commands and the so-called "Live Search".

3) Now you can change the size of the icons on the main panel (from 32 to 64 pixels):

4) Test drive applications without installation. This function made a lot of noise, including on Habré, so I will not explain how it works:

By the way, now when installing applications, Ubuntu Software Center suggests adding an icon directly to the Unity panel.

5) Firefox AppMenu is installed by default:

LibreOffice AppMenu is also installed, but must first ask you for permission.

6) Dash received new scroll bars:

7) By default, the wallpaper is slightly changed, icons have also undergone small changes.

8) Improved sound menu. Along with support for “playerback”, playlist selection and volume control, microphone adjustment appeared during a Skype conversation.

Many small changes were also made, which are simply unrealistic to describe.
