Gartner: Windows Vista Contributes to Low PC Sales

Gartner analysts say that the release of the new Microsoft operating system has had very little impact on the demand in the PC market. According to Gartner's forecast, this year 257.1 million desktop and mobile PCs will be sold - 11.1% more than last year. However, the contribution of Windows Vista to this projected growth is negligible.
Developing markets turned out to be a much bigger contributor to the growth of the PC market - about 55% of PCs sold in these regions come from new purchases, not upgrades. In the next two years, emerging markets are expected to absorb 128 million devices, which is about a quarter of all PC shipments over a specified period.

If you honestly, just recently formatted hard after visty and understand perfectly why the contribution of Windows Vista is so imperceptible, according to these statistics. By the way, the article is taken from here .
