10 years of Mac OS X

The news is a little outdated, but still decided to publish.

March 24, Mac OS X is 10 years old. Someone might say: “But what about the decade last year? You got it wrong ... ". Indeed, last year was the decade of Mac OS X, but 10 years since the announcement of the beta version. The commercial version was announced on March 24, 2001.

The first version of Mac OS X (Cheetah) was very different from the classic Mac OS 9. The principles of operation and interaction with the interface were changed. The interface has become more pleasant. A new Aqua theme was introduced, filled with a mass of graphic elements, animation. Also, along with the release of Mac OS X, the company proposed a new developer toolkit - Xcode. He allowed to create applications for computers based on Power PC processors, and Intel.

Over the years, Apple introduced seven versions of its operating system:
Cheetah (10.0), Puma (10.1), Jaguar (10.2), Panther (10.3), Tiger (10.4), Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6) and the recently released first public beta of Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).
