"Dear Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the last bastion of the dictatorship is the router."

Egypt’s decision to block all Internet and mobile communications was the first atomic explosion in the information war. In this war, people turn into routers and, armed with new technologies, become invulnerable.
Thanks to the government content filtering and blocking free communication of citizens, a
new line of communication technologies has emerged - wireless point networks (wireless mesh networks). The idea gained a name - "OpenMesh". The efforts of free developers led to the birth of the
OpenMeshProject project.
One of the volunteers, Gary Jay Brooks, a businessman from Michigan, acted as executive director. One Canadian company volunteered its design of tiny mobile routers that can be hidden in a pocket. The cost of manufacturing one such device is $ 90.
')
The main idea of OpenMesh is to develop new methods for creating a system of secondary wireless access to the Internet in such countries with strict regimes like Libya, Syria, Iran, North Korea [
but we understand that not only in them ]. Thanks to the presence of mobile routers, it is possible to create a wireless network to which mobile phones and personal computers can connect. First of all, people will be able to have a connection with each other, in the second - with the whole world. The next task is to use an unstable satellite Internet connection. Openmesh aims to be an information center for all ideas related to these tasks.

Open point networks are one type of network where each network node can act as a router, independent of the availability of the Internet. Point networks are incredibly reliable due to bypassing blocked paths, when information from node to node can be transmitted through an alternative device. With the presence of the Internet, point networks can increase the volume of users. When the Internet is missing and there are no other ways of electronic communication, these networks enable people to communicate with each other. The devices are compatible with most computers with Wi-Fi, as well as with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Apple OS X and Linux, with iPhone and Android devices. Free point networks are a scalable, low-cost solution with complete independence from the developers of these solutions. In combination with free components, these networks have all the advantages for rapid growth.
The source code of the OpenMesh project will soon be possible to download and distribute for free. The technology will be released and maintained as Open Source GPL v2. This means that everyone can use or modify the software. Over time, private networks will be built covering the entire country. Any old woman, having found a disk on the street, will be able to come home and, having established it, in two clicks to connect to such a network. She can immediately see other users in such a network, call them, one or all at once, and go online. The OpenMesh project invites participants to participate in the development of communication technologies of the future.
