Facebook Places in Russia

Today, Facebook has announced a significant expansion of the list of countries in which the Places feature will work, and now it (finally) includes Russia.

Let me remind you that Places allow you to “celebrate” your participation in various events, going to the cinema, visiting cafes and restaurants, etc. on Facebook. At the same time, you can celebrate, for example, your friends who are there with you (or whom you want to invite to join you).

The owners of the establishments are given the opportunity to offer their visitors special offers when they mark their visits to them on Facebook. In Moscow, at launch, such special offers will be available at Starbucks coffee shops, Il Patio and Planet Sushi restaurants, Solyanka club and Strelka bar.

The integration of Places and the Check-in mechanism into applications for Facebook, mobile applications and other sites can be used in various ways, for example:
- the application for "travelers" can show you which of your friends have already visited the place where you are now
- an application for exhibitions, conferences, concerts and other events that will help colleagues or friends to find each other and meet at a big event.
