Google Navigation Field Tests

Probably, everyone has already heard about today's launch in Moscow and the MO navigation service from Google. Immediately after the presentation, we pulled out a blue arrow (symbol of Navigator) to the Baltschug street and arranged a live application test.

In addition to navigation for Moscow and the Moscow region, Rafael Leiterits (Head of Maps in the EMEA region) spoke a bit more about the latest version of Google Maps 5.2 . Which now work fine with cache and consume significantly less mobile traffic.

The Google Navigation interface itself is simple and convenient. It is enough to enter the destination address, and the application will build the most optimal route, given the congestion on the roads. At the same time, if the path does not seem to be the shortest and fastest, you can choose another one. The bottom will show the approximate time to reach the destination. Each turn or other change will be accompanied by a pleasant female voice in Russian.

Google Navigator will be useful not only for motorists. In order not to get lost in the metropolis, the application easily pave the route for pedestrians. True, walking graphs are not perfect yet, but the company's specialists are working on it.

The only significant disadvantage is still the lack of the ability to build routes without the Internet. But, according to Google representatives, mobile traffic consumption is minimized due to the mechanism of caching and data optimization. In addition, newly loaded data will be more relevant.
