As the co-founder of the service, Biz Stone, wrote , users send over 140 million tweets every day - that is, a billion tweets every 8 days. For comparison: it took 3 years, 2 months and 1 day to reach the first billion tweets. Although the registration of the first 500,000 accounts took about 18 months, today 500,000 accounts are created every day.
The company currently employs over 400 full-time employees.
On the occasion of the fifth anniversary, Twitter released a video in which various famous people talk about how and why they use the service.
Among them, tennis player Serena Williams, founder of the Virgin Group Richard Branson, rapper Snoop Dogg, speaker of the US House of Representatives John Beyner, astronaut Paolo Nespoli. It is noteworthy that the recording of the latter was made right on the ISS, where it is now located.
