The Senate could not accept immigration reform

Immigration reform , which Microsoft and other American high-tech corporations lobbied for, failed in the Senate. Voting on it did not take place.

We remind you that the reform proposed to remove the restriction on the issuance of H1-B work visas and green cards for those foreigners who have a master’s degree from a US or foreign university, and also to increase the H-1B visa issuance limit by 20% per year, from the current 65,000 to 180,000.

Today, there is only a quota of 20,000 visas for those who did not fall into the normal quota of H-1B, but has a high academic degree from an American university. The new law was to expand this quota.

However, on Tuesday, the Senate could not end the debate on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, so the matter did not come to a vote.

However, all is not lost. This law is critical to the American economy. He has no excess in influential lobbyists who will definitely try again to pass the law through both houses of parliament.
