On the car Tesla Model S you can install your software

Tesla Motors director Elon Musk told a conference in San Francisco that Tesla Model S electric sports car will support third-party software : "We want people to develop their own applications for the car."

The Model S sedan is equipped with a huge 17-inch touchscreen and the Android operating system. Fans of this car have long suspected that it will be possible to program it to your taste and install your own "hacks", but now it is officially confirmed.

Thus, Model S can become the first car with an open operating system. Until today, all automakers have tried to protect the car computer from outside interference as much as possible, and it was possible to reprogram it only at a service station and only in the manner provided by the manufacturer.

At the moment, the prototype of the Model S is in beta testing, and the first release of this software and hardware complex is expected in 2012.
