DARPA finances the "twin" of the Russian rotary-vane engine?

Engineer Norbert Muller from the University of Michigan at the presentation of the DARPA agency showed a prototype of a simple and versatile new engine, writes the scientific journal New Scientist in yesterday's issue.

The diagram shows the device of the engine. 1. Fuel and air fill the cells as the rotor turns. 2. After blocking the inlets due to the rotation of the rotor, the pressure increases sharply and a shock wave arises. 3. Compressed air and fuel are ignited. 4. After ignition, gases escape through the openings. The rotating rotor generates electricity.

According to the inventor, this engine is largely identical to the standard internal combustion engine and uses the same components, including candles, camshaft and valves. But at the same time it is much easier and more efficient. The use of such motors will reduce the weight of the car by 20%. By eliminating losses associated with unnecessary mechanical components, fuel consumption will decrease.

The engine can be adapted for various types of fuel, including hydrogen. The small prototype is already up and running, and by the end of the year Mueller promises to build a 25-kilowatt version. The money for this has already been allocated to him.

Interestingly, the principle of operation of this rotary motor resembles the E-mobile engine, which is currently undergoing testing and certification.

Maybe engineer Muller just watched the E-Mobile presentation on Youtube?
