HP plans to change development strategy

Yesterday, the management of HP made an interesting statement: the company plans to actively engage in the "cloud" sphere, intending to make this area of work one of the main ones. This decision was announced by the executive director of the corporation, Leo Apoteker, who recently took this position. Apotheker said that in the near future, the company intends to engage in active promotion of WebOS - it is planned to sell about 100 million devices annually on the basis of this platform.

HP management reported that not only computers will be delivered with this platform, but also mobile devices, including tablets. It is worth remembering that at the moment this company is the largest manufacturer of computers and printers in the world. Now webOS is available only for smartphones, but this summer webOS will be transferred to the Touchpad. Next year computers and some models of printers will be delivered from WebOS.

It is worth noting that Apotheker did not report the details of the planned changes in the company's development strategy, but one thing becomes clear: HP is going to supply its own equipment that will work on the basis of its own software platform. And this means the appearance in the near future of a sufficiently powerful competitor for many cloud service providers. In addition, Apple has been developing a similar strategy for quite a long time, which also supplies its own hardware with its own software and “cloud” services. Last but not least, this strategy has made Apple products popular.

Currently, experts are positive about HP's plans, since the devices manufactured by the corporation are quite popular. Thus, the reduction in a single whole "cloud" services and equipment produced can be very positively perceived by customers. In general, such a strategy, in the opinion of management, should increase profitability.

Investors after the speech Apoteker also satisfied. So let's wait a bit, and maybe see the success of the planned strategy. In any case, the plans of HP look quite attractive.
