The Japanese invented the technology of mass production of products from carbon fiber

image The technological breakthrough made by the Japanese Teijin company allows overcoming one of the main difficulties in the industrial application of carbon fiber - to use these materials on a “conveyor”.

The idea is based on the use of intermediate products, in which instead of the usual thermosetting binders for forming carbon plastics, thermoplastics reinforced with carbon fiber are used.

The company also developed a technology for welding components from thermoplastic carbon plastic and for bonding such carbon plastic to steel and similar materials. This will significantly reduce the use of metals in the production process.

To demonstrate the technology Teijin created an electric vehicle with a body frame of thermoplastic carbon fiber, weighing only 47 kg. The electric car is able to accelerate to 60 km / h, overcoming 100 km without recharging. Such a concept car embodies the company's vision of the future of ultra-light cars.

The Japanese intend to use electric vehicles to promote joint initiatives in the development of lightweight cars, as well as the presentation of technology to automakers and automotive components suppliers.
