Facebook began to pay attention to the psychological state of its users.

The Guardian drew attention to the fact that social networks can be used not only as an information channel for revolutions and upheavals, but also for potential saving of human lives.
The other day, Facebook offered users a special form (already in Russian) in which you can report users who express suicidal thoughts in messages. Information collected in this way is transmitted to the police and charitable organizations that are engaged in psychological assistance to potential suicides. The catalyst for the emergence of this mechanism was the case of the 42-year-old British woman Simone Back, who settled accounts with life on December 25, 2010. Beck wrote on her Facebook page that she took a lethal dose of pills, but none of the more than a thousand of her friends took this message seriously. If help arrived on time, Beck would have managed to save.
Now it only remains to answer the question - is it not the illusion of intimacy bestowed by the Internet that causes suicide or the mechanism proposed by Facebook really turns out to be a useful tool to prevent them ...
