Microsoft has sold over 10 million Kinect systems, setting a new Guinness World Record

Microsoft announced it has sold over 10 million Kinect for Xbox 360 systems to retailers.

Kinect, a non-controller gaming system that competes with the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 Move, has been selling at an impressive pace since sales began in November.

During the first three months after launch, Kinect became the “best-selling consumer device.” According to the Guinness Book of Records, whose representatives officially confirmed the record, Microsoft sold an average of 133,333 devices per day between November 4 and January 3.

Gaz Divs, editor of the gaming edition of the Guinness Book of Records 2011, said: “The sales figures here speak for themselves. We can confirm that no other consumer electronic device sold faster during the 60-day period, which is an incredible achievement, given the competition in this area. ”
