Free BlackBerry PlayBook for Developers

An absolutely awesome action from Research In Motion turned out to be completely undeserved: write an application for the BlackBerry Playbook to be approved - and get the BlackBerry PlayBook for free ! Many thanks to the gene4000 habrauser who discovered it.

The promotion is already coming to an end (the deadline for submitting the application is March 15, March 31), but if you have a ready (or almost ready) application for Adobe AIR or a web application that you can quickly port to BlackBerry Tablet OS, this is your chance !

What's the catch?

There is no trick. RIM especially emphasizes that this is not a competition, but a free PlayBook for every vendor. Here is the official statement of RIM, made in October last year :

Please be assured that this development is much broader than a contest. It’s possible that it’s possible to make it a matter of fact. If you are not in the world, you’ll have to do it. launch. We'll keep you posted.

I assure you that this offer to developers is more than a simple contest. We will post the details later on our website for developers, but our plan is to provide one free BlackBerry PlayBook to each registered vendor whose application will be accepted in App World before sales start. The application must comply with the BlackBerry App World Vendor Guidelines, and of course there will be certain conditions and agreements, but our main intention is to reward the developers working on the applications before the product launch. Follow the news.

Where to begin?

Approximate action plan for those who want to take part in the action:
  1. Register with App World. This is free, but it is better to do it as soon as possible, because account verification may take a couple of days
  2. Immediately register to receive the keys to sign applications (for the same reasons)
  3. In the meantime, get your SDK sorted and port your app.
  4. After waiting for the appruva account and getting the keys to sign the packages, sign the package and send it to moderation
  5. Relaxing (or vice versa, nervous) while waiting for an appruva
  6. If successful, wait for your PlayBook, the distribution of which will begin after the start of sales

It is specifically stated that this is not one PlayBook for each application, but one PlayBook for a registered vendor , regardless of the number of applications sent by him to App World (yes, I know what thought might arise from some particularly savvy readers - well, try it;))
