Ubuntu 11.10 will be codenamed Oneiric Ocelot

Mark Shuttleworth announced that the next after Natty Narwhal version of Ubuntu will be called Oneiric Ocelot.

In the post “ Next After Natty? ” In his blog, Shuttleworth describes the goals of the next Ubuntu iteration and explains why it should be called that way. Mark says: “Oneiric means“ dreamy, ”and along with the ocelot, it reminds me of how innovations happen: partly dreams, partly discipline.”

Together with Ubuntu 11.10, the CD will also ship Unity 2D for those people whose hardware does not allow using the 3D version, as well as Qt, which Shuttleworth says, “will give developers even more opportunities to create interfaces that are both functional and aesthetically attractive ”
