Linux Mint 11 will use GNOME 3.0

As you probably already know, the next, eleventh version of Linux Mint, codenamed Katya, will be based on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, but will not use Unity as an out-of-box shell. As it turned out, Linux Mint 11 will move away from Ubuntu, and will ship with GNOME 3.0 by default, although Ubuntu 11.04 will use Gnome 2.32.x.

At the same time, using GNOME 3.0 does not mean that Linux Mint 11 will be shipped with Gnome Shell only. Linux Mint 11 will use classic gnome by default. And, of course, at will, you can choose between Unity and Gnome Shell.

Also, some time ago it was decided that Linux Mint 11 will continue to use Rhythmbox and will not migrate to Banshee.
