Yota has signed an agreement with the largest telecom operators: Beeline, Megafon, MTS and Rostelecom on the development of LTE in Russia. Communication services in the LTE standard may be available as early as 2011. And by 2014, the network will cover more than 180 cities in Russia.
The agreement was concluded at the Yota office in Moscow in the presence of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. According to the document, participants in the transaction will have access to the infrastructure of the 4th generation mobile communication network and options to buy shares in Yota at the market price in 2014.
The principles of cooperation are based on ensuring equal access to the common infrastructure of all participants in the transaction, which will allow operators to reduce the amount of investment in the construction of LTE networks and significantly reduce costs. This will lead to increased competition among operators, the emergence of new services and lower prices for basic services for consumers.
“Everyone benefits from signing the agreement, and above all - the Russian consumer. Today's agreements embody a new image of the future of telecommunications, built on the separation of infrastructure and client business of communication operators. I am happy that our main players share our vision of the development of the industry, ”commented Denis Sverdlov, General Director of the Yota Group.
