Tobii's pilot technology allows you to work on a computer with a glance

The CeBIT 2011 exhibition continues to delight with new interesting projects (which, by the way, are often not very practical, but on the whole 100% spectacular). Such a project is a new technology from Tobii, which allows you to control your PC or laptop without hands (or legs). Unfortunately, control systems of the power of thought have not yet been developed, so the company decided to use the human eye as a controlling element.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the technology, the corresponding device and software was installed on a Lenovo laptop, which the operator controlled. In total, not one, but 20 such devices were presented. You can not do everything with your eyes, I think this is understandable, but the selection of elements, scrolling or indication of a specific element is the system that allows you to perform.

Now the system is not very accurate, but the company promises to make a more accurate version of the system in a short time by improving its technology. It is clear that the issue of the launch time of this technology for commercial use is also relevant, and the Tobii management promises to implement all this in two years. By the way, the Lenovo laptop was chosen just for the purpose of demonstrating; the eye control system can be installed by a laptop of any company.

In principle, the system is quite interesting, although not quite (yet) practical. It would be nice if the development was not put on the back burner, but really allowed into production. If for an ordinary person such technology may not be very interesting, then for people with disorders of the musculoskeletal system is simply a must.
